Caroline M

The feeling I had driving up to the training center was so overwhelming, knowing my son has been there for the last 8weeks.
As I parked I saw recruits from other company's marching and sounding off.
We had breakfast and met the company commanders. We watched a video of what our recruits have been doing over the last 8 weeks. Needless to say there were tears, mostly from the moms.
As we walked to the gymnasium we caught a glimpse of Alpha 193 and they looked like a well oiled team.
The anticipation of waiting for them to march in was almost too much. The band was playing, the color guard were doing their drill, the presentation of colors was being shown and the national anthem filled the room. It all meant so much.
Finally in walked Alpha 193. It it's hard to believe this company did not know each other 8 weeks ago. They looked so professional and on point.
Then, I saw my son, in his blues, marching with a straight back and in his zone.
I wanted so badly to yell his name.
I looked around the room at all the moms, dads and grandparents. It was surreal.
When they got their certificates and the ceremony was over it was a mad dash to find our recruits.
My son spotted me before I saw him. He hugged me so tight and as much as he tried to not tear up, he did. We both did.
I was of course proud of his HS graduation but this was so much more.
I would absolutely not have been able to go if it was not for the moms in need program.
I will be forever grateful to them. This life changing event is one that will be remembered for the rest of our lives. My heart would have broken if I was not there to see him.
I will definitely being paying this gift forward.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. "
